Nishith
Desai has been elected as president, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE)—
Mumbai chapter for the years 2004-06. TiE is an organisation chartered
by entrepreneurs, corporate executives and senior professionals
with roots in the India-US region, with the explicit goal of benefiting
all entrepreneurs, would-be entrepreneurs and professionals with
an interest in entrepreneurship. Nishith has taken over from Mahesh
Murthy, the erstwhile president of TiE Mumbai.
Desai is an international lawyer, researcher,
inventor, author and lecturer, and the founder of the research-based
law firm, Nishith Desai Associates, having offices in Mumbai, Silicon
Valley and Bangalore. The firm received the inaugural Indian Law
Firm of the Year and Asian Law Firm of the Year 2001 (Pro Bono)
awards presented by IFLR (a Euromoney publication). Desai’s
specialisation encompasses globalisation and a wide range of corporate,
tax, and technology law matters, with a particular emphasis on private
equity and venture capital funds, international listing, cross-border
M&A transactions, corporate governance, international taxation
and transfer pricing, joint ventures and strategic alliances, media
and entertainment laws and complex information technology and business-process
outsourcing transactions.
Staffware,
a global leader in Business Process Mana-gement (BPM) software,
announced the appointment of Noshin Kagalwalla as country manager
for Staffware, India. Kagalwalla joins Staffware from Microsoft
India, where he was responsible for the business development of
Microsoft server products. As head of Staffware’s India operations,
he will be aiming to grow the revenue and customer base by working
with the company’s existing partners such as Wipro, ICICI
Infotech, Tata Infotech, and Siemens, and building on Staffware’s
successful track record with customers such as HDFC Bank, HDFC Standard
Life and ICICI Bank.
Kagalwalla said, “I look forward to further
cementing Staffware’s global BPM leadership position in the
Indian market through valued partnerships with leading Indian companies.
It is an exciting time for BPM in India where businesses are focusing
on improving the quality and reducing the cost of operation of their
key business processes.” Prior to his appointment at Microsoft,
Kagalwalla was employed at SAS Institute, TCS and Anstec, where
he was responsible for business development and project management.
Kagalwalla holds a Bachelor in Engineering in Computer Technology
from VJTI, Mumbai and a Masters degree in Computer Engineering from
Wright State University, USA.
