RAMINFO eyes call centre segment

P V Ravi Kumar, Senior Manager - HR at RAM Informatics Ltd, is preparing to work overtime during the coming months. The reason: RAMINFO is keen to step into the call centre segment. Ravi Kumar has a master's degree in personnel management, bachelor's degree in law and a PG diploma in personnel management and industrial relations.
He is a member of National HRD Network and NIPM. According to Ravi Kumar, RAM Informatics Ltd's mission is "to provide finest quality solutions, using leading-edge technologies for utmost customer satisfaction". Excerpts from his interview given to Venkat Pulapaka.

What are the job prospects in RAMINFO?
RAMINFO is a 100% export oriented private software technology park, offering software and related services primarily under client/server technology, for both the export and domestic markets. RAMINFO's focus is on customised application development, application re-engineering using client/server, CASE, GUI and object oriented techniques, software maintenance and support, RDBMS consulting.

The company provides commercial and business application related services to telecom, insurance, banking, financial services, government and manufacturing industries. The current staff strength of the company is 250 and we are likely to recruit another 30-50 IT professionals during this fiscal.

In addition to this, RAMINFO is preparing to set up call centre operations soon. We are negotiating with US companies to set up a 1,000-seat capacity BPO/call centre. Recruitment in this segment could start in about a year's time.

What are the main parameters for selection of a candidate?
We are looking for people with self-confidence, coupled with an Engineering degree with experience in embedded systems. In addition to this, experience in Microsoft and D-Net technologies will be an asset.

What is done in RAMINFO on people skills?
Our recruits are generally from top engineering institutions. We provide excellent in-house on-job training to them, both in IT and SoftSkills areas.
We also provide need-based training to our professionals.
