Alok Ohrie has been appointed as the country manager, Personal Computing Division, IBM India. Ohrie will head IBM’s PC business in India, which includes the desktops and Thinkpad range of laptops. He began his career with IBM in 1993. In 1996, Ohrie managed the Large Accounts Strategy for the Asia Pacific region, based in Sydney. He has been responsible for establishing the ThinkPad, Netfinity and IntelliStation brands in the Indian market. Prior to his current appointment, Ohrie was responsible for IBM’s Channels business in India. He graduated in Electronics and Communications from KREC, Surathkal, and holds a Masters Degree in Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.


Digital GlobalSoft has appointed Pramod Fernandes as head-human resources. Fernandes will be spearheading all HR requirements for the over 1,600 strong Digital team. He will be a member of the Digital Management Council team and report directly to the CEO, Som Mittal. Fernandes will be taking over this role from Prashant Sankaran, who has moved to head the contact centre operations. Prior to joining Digital, Fernandes was vice president-HR for Siemens Public Communication Networks. He was part of the executive management team and responsible for evolving and facilitating pro-active HR strategies for business growth. Before Siemens, Fernandes was heading the HR function for ABB’s power generation segment in Delhi for five years. He started his career as a legal practitioner in 1977 before switching over to the industrial sector. He has also worked with Hindustan Aeronautics and the Tata Group.


V Balasubramanian has been inducted on the Board of Aptech Training. With over 16 years of rich experience in the IT training and consulting industry, he has made a very significant contribution in the company’s sustained growth, especially in the expansion of international business. He has been instrumental in strategising and deploying quality benchmarks across a wide spectrum of activities. In his congratulatory message, Atul Nishar, chairman of Aptech, said, “Balasubramanian’s long standing professional expertise, his unwavering contribution and commitment, both to the organisation and the IT education segment, has been significant. The international foray of Aptech has been successful with him at the helm. I am sure he will be an asset to the Board of Aptech.” A rank holder in Mechanical Engineering, he has done his Post Graduation in Industrial Engineering.
