Lab Asia announced the appointment of Dr Bishnu D
Pradhan as director, technology development and
general manager-Maharashtra Hub. Dr Pradhan has 37 years
of experience in R&D and management in the areas
of electronics & telecommunications. This includes
stints with ICO Global, Motorola, C-DOT and the Tata
Group. The Government, in 1990, selected Dr Pradhan
to take over the prestigious Centre for Development
of Telematics (C-DOT), joined Motorola as its executive
director and general manager for Cellular Infrastructure
in South Asia, reporting directly to Chicago. In March
1997, he returned to Mumbai to take over as the senior
vice president and regional general manager of ICO Global
Communications. This is a dream opportunity to
make a radical change in the quality of life of the
people at large, said Dr Pradhan, commenting on
his new engagement.

Ranjan
Chak, executive director, Oracle India, has moved
into a new role within Oracle Corporation, as vice president,
Asia Pacific product services. Chak now heads the Asia
Pacific team in the newly formed global products services
division, which will help service Oracle customers worldwide
by providing electronic support and remote system management
services. Prior to his new position, Chak has had an
illustrious eight-year career with Oracle as vice president,
India Operations. He started Oracles India Development
Centre (IDC) in Bangalore in 1994, and then established
a second unit in Hyderabad in 1998, focused on Applications
Development and Applications Support. Subsequently,
in early 2001, Chak took charge of Oracles first
electronic global support centre. With an honours degree
in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, Chak
has also managed a pioneering research project at the
Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, applying
Artificial Intelligence technology to industrial problems.

Gopal
Krishnan has joined DX Technologies as assistant vice
president for Newsmedia Sales. He will be operating from
New Delhi. His responsibilities will include sales and
business development for both domestic and international
marketplace. Gopal Krishnan is qualified (with honours)
in Mathematical Statistics from University of Delhi in
1991. He joined Allied Photographics (formerly Agfa Gavert
India), and was given the charge of direct sales to photo
finishing laboratories. Working out of Delhi, Gopal Krishnan
oversaw a network of 500 retail dealers. Gopal Krishnan
later shouldered the challenge of digital publishing when
he was appointed as business manager by Summit Information
Technology. |
Venture
Infotek announces the appointment of Anand Maheshwari
as president, operations and technology, to enable the
companys aggressive growth plans. Anand Maheshwaris
previous assignment was with American Express as vice
president and business leader in their global financial
centre in New Delhi, widely acknowledged as the pioneer
in shared service industry in India. He was instrumental
in the growth of that centre from around 200 to over 1000
people mostly in financial processing and technology domain.
A chartered accountant by profession, Maheshwari has about
20 years of work experience with various companies in
different industries, both in India and UK. According
to Girish Ranjan, managing director, Venture Infotek,
I am sure that with his skills, expertise and leadership,
we will enable the organisation to gear up for the exponential
growth that is being envisaged. |

announced the appointment of Samir Basak, as national
sales manager-Telecom, in India and SAARC region. Spearheading
the Telecom Practice at SAS, Samir will be responsible
for driving and generating sales from this fast growing
segment. Having worked with companies such as Eftia, Fujitsu
and Siemens, Samir joins SAS with in-depth marketing experience
gained in the international telecom operational support
and systems (OSS) space. Samir has considerable experience
in roles such as business development manager, telecom
services, Siemens and head of telecom business unit, Western
region, Fujitsu ICIM. His specialisation in the telecom
space, in conjunction with his marketing expertise, will
be a critical success factor in achieving the sales target
that SAS has set for itself within this high growth segment. |
