International University has signed a formal agreement with Bangalore-based
New Horizon American Centre to offer two of its top programmes,
namely MS in Engineering Management (MSEM) and BS in Computer Engineering,
in India. The programmes, a first for FIU in Asia is a dream come
true for students aspiring to pursue their higher education abroad.
Mohan
Manghnani, president, New Horizon Educational Institution, said,
The launch of FIUs two top programmes in India is the beginning
of a new trend, which would open a new window of opportunity to
students across India. I am quite delighted about venture, which
would see us emerging as the leading providers of education in India.
We plan to tie-up with leading educational institutions both in
India and South East Asia to reach these programmes to potential
students locally.
Elaborating
further on the partnership and the programmes offered, Dr Hema,
executive director, New Horizon Educational Institution, said,The
programmes and our partnership with FIU is markedly different from
the other alliances many educational institutions have with US universities.
For one, this is not a joint offering of a programme in India. Rather
FIU is offering its programmes absolutely similar in structure,
content and benefits with NHASC as its local partner. This sort
of an alliance marks a much higher involvement from FIU and is thus
a tremendous opportunity for both us and FIU.
The
MS (EM) course, which would help the students attain a Masters
degree (and not a diploma or certificate) is an integration of courses
from engineering, management and computer science disciplines in
order to create future information technology leaders. The BS (CE)
course helps the students attain a degree in the much sought after
field of computer engineering.
Since
it is a FIU programme, the students are eligible for teaching assistance
and other scholarship benefits as would be applicable when they
join any US university. Also, when the student graduates, the placement
cell of FIU offers assistance to those who completed it in India
as it would to its students in the US.
This
makes it a one of a kind international programme, offered locally
but leading to potential global career. Considering that all this
comes to a student at a fraction of the cost he would have incurred,
if done in the US makes it an attractive value proposition to even
students from middle class families, added Dr Swaminathan,
director, New Horizon American Studies Centre. Admissions for the
current academic year are open.
