Parsec Technologies has recently appointed Yugal Sharma as the general manager-sales (India & SAARC region). He would be responsible for sales of Parsec’s products and services for India and neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. It is understood that this appointment is in line with the company’s aggressive plans for the SE Asia region. Having more than a decade experience in the IT and Telecom industry, Sharma has worked with companies such as Siemens, Tata Telecom, Lucent and LG. Prior to joining Parsec, Sharma was working with LG Electronics India. Sharma holds a Masters in Marketing Management from GND University, Amritsar and another Masters in International Marketing from IIFT, New Delhi.
Cisco Systems announced the appointment of Owen Chan as vice president of Asia Operations. Chan was formerly Cisco’s vice president, customer advocacy, Asia Pacific, and was responsible for the company’s solutions consulting business and support services in the region. Chan will be based in Hong Kong. Cisco’s Asia territory includes all Cisco operations in Hong Kong, India, Indochina, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. Chan will report to Gordon Astles, president, Asia Pacific, Cisco Systems. “Owen Chan’s extensive background and experience, as well as his excellent reputation for leadership and customer focus, make him ideally suited for this role. We are very pleased that he will be leading our Asia team,” said Astles. Prior to joining Cisco Systems in December 1999, Chan was vice president of GE Information Services, Asia Pacific and Japan Operations.
Hewlett-Packard announced the appointment of P Suresh Kumar as the vice president, R&D (Operating Systems), Hewlett-Packard India Software Operation (HPISO). Previously he was the general manager, R&D, HPISO, and was incharge of HP’s commercial systems organisation. In his new capacity, Suresh will be responsible for overall management of the HP UNIX OS Lab. He will also head the Extended Manufacturing Competency centre that will focus on the solutions and service opportunities in the extended manufacturing domain as a new business area. He was also responsible for setting up of three virtual R&D labs in Enterprise Systems and Solutions Centre (ESSC) of HPISO. Prior to HPISO, Suresh was with the defence R&D organisation.
