Sneha Chrysolite Paul/ Chennai

Satyam Education Services Limited (SESL) announced that Digital GlobalSoft (formerly Digital Equipment India), has contracted the company to provide real time interactive distance learning to its employees over its corporate network. LearnLinc from Mentergy Inc., USA, is sold and implemented in India by SESL. The eLearning arm of Sify, LearnLinc is a market leading virtual classroom and Web conferencing solution that operates over the Internet or corporate intranet. It supports two way audio / video conferencing and streaming audio / video, and has a rich set of features such as white boarding, application sharing, polling, testing and assessment, etc, integrated into an easy to use interface. Organisations can use it for training as well as for conducting meetings and conferences.

VM Kumar, head, Corporate eLearning Solutions, SESL, asserted, “LearnLinc is a high impact / high ROI solution being used by global corporations such as Aetna, WorldCom and Convergys, and by several universities and distance learning companies, to deliver interactive instructor-led training. From an eLearning perspective, LearnLinc preserves the interactivity and effectiveness of classroom training, with the added benefits of cost savings, scalability and lower time to competence. Digital is among the early adopters of this tool in India, and we see many large Indian companies adopting this in the next few months.”

According to Aparna Dutt, manager, Competency Development Centre at Digital, who is driving this new initiative, “Our main objective in using LearnLinc is to integrate over 350 employees who are in overseas locations, into the mainstream training programs conducted in India, without having to incur the cost of travel. We expect to do 15-20 programmes in the next three months.”
