Educomp launches PlanetVidya Intranet solution

ITP News Network/New Delhi

Leading education technology and eLearning company Educomp Datamatics has recently announced the launch of PlanetVidya Intranet solution—an Intranet version of their Web-based instructional content solution for schools. Explaining the rationale for the PlanetVidya Intranet solution, Shantanu Prakash, chief executive officer of Educomp Datamatics said, “The objective of this solution is to extend our high quality curriculum content to as many school students as possible. The lack of PC penetration in schools, limited Internet access, lack of broadband high-speed connections and most importantly the high cost of creating online learning environment were the reasons why our team developed the Intranet version for schools.”

It is understood that this solution will help schools simulate an online learning environment within the institution without the associated high infrastructure costs. “It will aid schools in supplementing classroom teaching with interactive and graphic-rich education content that has been created by an in-house team of experienced teachers and subject experts, ensuring highest quality standards while keeping in view the guidelines provided by NCERT. The company will provide quarterly updates of the content and the same will be sent in the form of a CD. The Intranet solution will also provide a tool for the teachers to design and deploy their own course content. It will also be enabled for personalisation, with every user allowed to create his or her own space and maintain individual record of his/her progress through the site,” he added.

Apart from development and deployment of PlanetVidya Curriculum Cracker (Educomp’s digital content for classes 3rd to 12th), the intranet solution by Educomp will offer software modules for students, administrators and teachers. Students would have access to high quality digital content along with a host of features like virtual notebook, glossary of words for every topic, model questions, practice tests, problem zone and progress reports.

The Administrator module will allow for creation of news updates and announcements on the home page of the school’s intranet site as well as hosting of events on the intranet. The Teacher module will allow for posting of homework for students, Classroom notes for students to take (subject and class-wise) and questions/assignments.
