ITP News Network/Mumbai

Over 70 children were awarded ‘Certificate of completion’ of computer courses under the Elfun-EOTO program recently. The Elfun-EOTO programme is collaborative effort of Elfun, a volunteer community service organisation of GE employees, and Each One Teach One(EOTO), a non-profit charitable organisation, striving towards education of underprivileged children in computer literacy.

Elfun volunteers have devoted their weekends to support this programme. Their vision is to bridge the digital divide by giving quality training in real-life use of computers. Over the last two years more than 350 children have graduated from these classes. Elfun Bangalore chapter’s basic objective has been to make a significant difference in the society in the fields of education for underprivileged, improving the environment, old age care, etc.

EOTO also qualified to receive an award from the GE Fund for supporting their community programmes in the area of education and research. GE Fund is a philantropic foundation funded solely by US-based General Electric Company (GE). GE Fund selected EOTO based on the computer literacy project in which it has made remarkable progress.
