Nokia,
has recently been named among the top 10 European constituents of
the new FTSE4Good index series, which benchmarks the performance
of socially responsible companies in European, US and Global markets.
Besides
looking at the financial performance, socially responsible investment
(SRI) is an investment strategy that takes into account a companys
ethical, social and environmental performance. Nokia believes that
this has been the result of the companys long-standing ethical
commitment and strong value base. The constituents of the FTSE4Good
series are determined by assessing a companys achievements
in the following areas, namely - the working towards environmental
sustainability, developing positive relationships with stakeholders
and upholding and supporting universal human rights.
Nokia
views the creation of the index series as further evidence that,
increasingly, fund managers and individuals are looking to invest
in socially responsible companies. The criteria for the new index
are closely aligned with Nokia values, stakeholder expectations
and the way the company has been doing business for a very long
time, said a company official. Nokia is a broadly held company
with listings on six major exchanges.
